International Day of Sign Languages: Every Voice Matters

On International Day of Sign Languages, we at PN Inclusion are proud to join the global celebration of the richness, diversity, and beauty of sign languages everywhere.

Sign languages carry culture, identity, connection — they are living, breathing languages that reflect the experiences and histories of Deaf, Deafblind, and signing communities. At PN Inclusion, we believe that access to sign language is fundamental not just as a tool, but as a right.

Over the years, through our work and our blog, we’ve shared stories of how British Sign Language (BSL) can open doors — in education, in workplaces, in everyday life. We’ve run regular BSL sessions led by our team, such as our Inclusion Administrator Cherry Ryder, to nurture understanding and proficiency. We’ve also highlighted how BSL contracts and services (for example, with New College Swindon) can institutionalise support, making communication inclusive by design rather than by exception.

At PN Inclusion, our mission is to ensure that everyone has access to clear, respectful, and inclusive communication. We are committed to raising awareness, equipping people with skills, and advocating for spaces where sign languages are normalised, valued, and honoured.

On this day and every day, we reaffirm our pledge: to break down communication barriers, to elevate the voices of Deaf and signing communities, and to expand understanding. Let’s celebrate sign languages together — with reverence, curiosity, and solidarity. And let’s keep building a world where every voice — spoken, signed, or otherwise expressed — is truly heard, recognized, and valued.
